Hold out for honor is a statement I have heard a lot. It was not until recently (that being yesterday) that I decided to sit down and really decide what that looked like to me.
I discovered that its not just someone who opens doors, walks on the outside, lets you walk in front and the general gentlemanly things. ( Not that I don't appreciate or want those things. I personally find that attractive) I found that I need to take this a step further. Honor for me is someone who is going to pursue me. (Let me give you a definition of what I mean. It is someone who actively tries to get to know me through talking and spending real time together) He is going to state his intentions clearly. I have always loved the statement "Say what you mean and mean what you say" that's what I see here coming into play here. It is someone who even in the "talking" stage is not "talking" to other people. Though I am not sure I even know what the hell the talking stage is. Our lives are not the bachelor and I don't like feeling like I am on an episode. I am finding its not a healthy place for me to be emotionally. I do not want to be someones emotional backup.
Now I know there are people who have been hurt and want to take things slow but I don't think taking things slow mean that the above does not happen. Every relationship whether that is friendship or romantic is a risk and basically you have to decide if said person is worth the risk. I don't want someone who can't decide if I am worth the risk.
I am starting to realize I am worth the risk and I deserve honor. Its time I hold out for it.
Friends I want to invite you to sit down and decide for yourself what it looks like for you to hold out for honor and then pursue it in your own life because you too are worth the risk.
